Description

RecentChanges expose user email address to visitors (and robots).

Steps to reproduce

  1. Probably select to show you email address instead of your name in the user preferences.
  2. Edit a page
  3. Log out
  4. Visit RecentChanges

Example

Details

Workaround

Don't use that user setting in public wiki.

Discussion

A user may want to show his email, to other users, but not to visitors or robots.

This is not really a bug. This setting was introduced to support intranet usage with many not-very-wikiwikiway users, so that one may communicate with them via RecentChanges mailto link even if they don't have made an own wiki homepage.

It is documented that if you choose that option, your email address will be exposed and that you maybe don't want to do that on the internet.

We can't do much else because we have no "obfuscated" email address representation in this case (like the one given to MailTo macro by some user) and some automatic "transscription" might be too weak.

Just in case someone will have a nice idea how to solve this elegantly and save, I move this to FeatureRequests now.
