Show the wiki name in interwiki links
Some users like to see the remote wiki favicon instead of the wiki name. See ExtensionProposals/FavIcon
InterWiki links are very nice (I've even added custom ones to my personal moin installations). However, it would be nice to know WHICH wiki you're being directed to in addition to the page name without having to hover. I propose an interwiki link like MoinMaster: FrontPage be displayed something like MoinMaster: FrontPage except with the image in front of the wiki's name. I think this would be helpful as an optional feature. -- WillGray
The problem is what people want to talk about. When I want to refer to OnceAndOnlyOnce, I don't want to write Wiki:OnceAndOnlyOnce, because I want the page to merge naturally in the sentence. The fact that the page live on another wiki is not important. When the location of the page is important, I prefer to say something like C2 Wiki's OnceAndOnlyOnce. -- NirSoffer 2005-05-05 21:25:58
You make a very valid arguement. However, I would probably want to see the wiki's name along with page name more often than not. Is it wrong not to want to do this extra work every time? Take FrontPage or FrontPage as an example. -- WillGray
This example should be written as "take MoinMoin's FrontPage or C2's FrontPage as an example". Its more work, but more readable.
I agree that it's more readable and is preferable, but a basic format could be automated by the wiki (see above). This is definitely one of those issues where everyone is right. Does DoTheSimplestThingThatCouldPossiblyWork apply here? -- WillGray
We need few types of markup:
- one that show only the page name, preferable by some
- one that show also the wiki name, preferable by others
- one that let use custom text
The current markup can do all three with little extra work. Try to find easier markup that can do all.
