Ability to block versioning for one page
There are some pages, where one might not want to have histories. My prefereed solution is or would be to have the "info"-action accessible via ACLs but if this will not be implemented or is too complicated right now I would like to be able to have no revisions saved for a given page in the way that I put
#noversions on the top of the page. So this is very much like #format plain - it switches off a mjor feature of the wiki als well as the plaintext which disables the wiki formatting.
I definitely often do not want revisions to be accessible to every one. Think of a page that I develop unreadable for "All" and then move it to the public: I sure want to make it public but I also would not want to publish the history. The only way to do this right now is to delete the revision by hand. I think there should rather be a wiki way for this. If this is solved I think many more options for using a wiki will be open - if not I am sure many ppl will not use it.

May be an action like ClearHistory could do this easily, if it is wanted after a page was in a longer process created. Because of the spammers who could easily destroy the hole content and developing process of a page if it's never has revisions I would prefer this solution. Move to public means than ClearHistory. An other method probably could be WikiSynchronisation. So you can develop your page on a personal wiki and the last revision is then pulled to the public wiki. -- ReimarBauer 2006-09-15 19:15:53
Solution: Deprecated pages (see HelpOnProcessingInstructions) do not keep page history.
A page can be completely current and applicable, yet have its history wiped out for social reasons.
Indeed, purging old history is a different usecase.
I support this feature. But I see two different problems here. One is the ability to clear history, or parts of it. The other is the need to have ACLs respected on a per-revision basis, i.e. one shouldn't be able to obtain diffs with versions which were are-inaccessible.
