Short description
To desire of Moin users to do front pages with rich layout is high, see e.g.
However in most cases, tables are used for that which is not desired from the point of view of accessibility. The only one who is doing it right is https://developer.skype.com/! Congratulations (especially since Skype was before one of the worst exmaples of heavy useage of layout tables)!!
GHOP-task:
- Talk with the developers of a more generic build-in approach to do rich html pages
Compare existing solutions for that, e.g. http://moinmo.in/HelpOnAdmonitions, SectionParser.
- Think of brining them togeter providing the user with more means (i.e. accessible means) to do rich page layout.
Last but not least (very important!!!): Add to HelpOnEditing and new page HelpOnLayout where you describe how layout can be done (Sections, admonitions, image positioning see http://master19.moinmo.in/HelpOnImages) and that tables should not be used for that!! Give also a best-practice example there how to do a good wiki page, i.e. by starting it with a heading 1, providing a table of contents if its very long and a short abstract about the content etc. Look in the interent for pages on accessibility which can provide tipps for that). Discuss all things with the developpers.
Maybe it is just me, but is this really easy and not too vague? Easy todos should be doable in a few hours up to a few work days. -- ThomasWaldmann 2010-09-22 08:57:37
