Short description

Please could someone try and make something to integrate phpBB2 & the MoinMoin Wiki software?

What should that look like?

I didn't propose this, but I want to encourage support for something like this. I must admit that I like structure. Getting use to the wiki soup idea, with everything in the pot, is a struggle for me and others here where I work. For structure freaks it would be nice to be able to "template" (for lack of a better word) the posts on a page according to phpBB style of presentation. What I am working up to actually would be a proposal for a general way to impose structure onto the data presented on the page. Even a name for the idea fails me because "forms" implies HTML input (and I am trying to describe both input and output structure) and "templates" describe something different in MoinMoin. Maybe structures?

I think the @ SIG @ construct is a very simple beginning, but not everyone uses it - and I just learned about it in fact. When I use @ SIG @ you can't tell how much I contributed, nor is it a requirement imposed by MoinMoin for each post. In other words, my dream is to have special pages in the wiki (parser), that posts can only be added to in a structured way. -- TimCera 2005-08-12 16:06:14

Probably something like autosigning @ SIG @ could be added by a pragma rule or probably by a parser as demonstraded for inline_latex. I think this and others fits into a possible pragma rule. So it just only needs to be defined there. -- ReimarBauer 2005-08-12 19:03:16

I would certainly like to see a Moin module that uses existing phpbb usernames. Who wants to maintain yet another username list? -- JasonStirling 2005-08-24 01:39:38

On many sites, wikis are often run side by side with phpbb. wikis like DokuWiki, MediaWiki, WikkiWiki have plugins or mods allowing the wiki to authenticate from an existing phpbb database. That way users don't have to manage two sets of logins and don't have to register twice. They register an account on phpbb and get instant access to the wiki. This is a make/break decision for many sites looking for wiki software.

Any News about that?

I wrote some code that seems to be working: JensGeiregat/AuthphpBB. This is work in progress. I plan on testing this code and expanding its features. -- JensGeiregat 2006-07-27 22:06:57
