Description

It seems that something in the form of WikiName/OtherWikiName will come out as WikiName_2fOtherWikiName but it's not clear to me whether this is the desired behaviour. On the wikiwikiweb.de site, it has the slash in the actual URL, but if you Google for it (see Example), it seems it's everywhere.

What you call "broken slash" is 1.2 style slashes _2f, and its no surprise that you find lot of these in Google.

Moin 1.3 use real slashes in URL. In file names, slashes are still escaped, although in a another style, (2f). However, those slashes are not recognized in URL anymore, and are implementation detail which is subject to change.

I'll buy that for a dollar. But if you go here http://moinmoin.wikiwikiweb.de/MoinMoinFeatures and scroll down till you find MoinMoin/InstallDocs and /SubPage you'll notice that the slashes work in the URL. And yet the MoinMoinFeatures as implemented on my server 's SyntaxReference page give the URLs of MoinMoin_2fInstallDocs and SyntaxReference_2fSubPage, respectively. So now the question is, why is my implementation different from the reference website? FWIW, I grabbed version 1.2.4 on Oct.29/04 which is what I'm running. I'll grab the 1.3beta3 if you think this'll fix the problem. (This does appear to be what you're suggesting, but I'm just getting over the flu, so would like the explicit confirmation. :) )

This is not really a problem, just an optical difference. Use 1.3 if you want "real slashes" in the URL. This server runs 1.3.

We recently upgraded the Ethereal wiki from MoinMoin 1.2.4 to 1.3.5. We apparently have a lot of external links pointing to wiki URLs with old-style slashes, such as http://wiki.ethereal.com/CaptureSetup_2fWLAN. I've started creating dummy pages that redirect old-style slashes to the proper pages. Is there any way that MoinMoin can do this automatically? -- GeraldCombs

There is a script in the mailing list archive which rewrite URLs accordingly. -- AlexanderSchremmer 2005-08-27 22:52:05
