Description

The gui editor is unusable, when trying to edit a page. The exact behavior depends on the Theme in use at the time. While using the Modern theme, the GUI option doesn't show up either on the page itself or on the edit page. In Classic, I will enter the editor and find the GUI missing, the edit box filled with HTML, and the button to switch to 'text editing' present. Clicking on the 'text editing' button produces this:

I seem to experience this behavior after changing the theme. For instance, on my moin-desktop site, I change my preferred theme in user preferences, then try to edit a page.

I've also experienced this after clicking between the old and new versions of this site (Moinmoin.wikiwikiweb.de to moinmo.in). I have a debug page that I'll upload.

This problem showed up in PPC mac versions of both Opera and Firefox, running under OSX.4.10

Steps to reproduce

1. Go to http://moinmoin.wikiwikiweb.de

   • The wiki at that url is read only and tells this in a big red sign - can you reproduce it here, at http://moinmo.in/ ?

     • -I'm ashamed to say since I posted this report I haven't been able to reproduce the problem at all. It brought me to a grinding halt for about a day, though. -- AmElder 2008-01-14 20:24:17

2. Change user preferences to prefer gui editing.
3. Go to the bug report section.
4. Enter a new bug report.

5. On page created from the BugTemplate, click through to the updated version of the site and see HTML in the edit box.

6. Click to change to text editing and see an error page.

OR

1. Go to the FrontPage of moin-desktop.

2. Log in as superuser and change user preferences to prefer gui editing and change the preferred Theme between Modern and Classic, either way.
3. Return to the front page and edit using the GUI.
4. If the option shows up, change to text editing and see and error page.

Workaround

I'm avoiding changing Themes for the moment, but evaluating MoinMoin for ease of use for my company. My coworkers will want GUI and to change Themes.
