2014-01-30T09:34:29 <ThomasWaldmann> search engines and other crawlers hit them all the time and then produce considerable server load, esp. if there is no search index (xapian) active

2014-01-30T09:36:44 <ThomasWaldmann> (my comments where about released version, it's a bit better in moin2)
2014-01-30T09:39:34 <Jigar54> ThomasWaldmann I have sent a pull request for the start all button issue.
2014-01-30T10:41:49 <skathpalia> ThomasWaldmann I have a doubt while creating a SVGDRAW item there is no save button for the summary, tags etc. there is only an image saving option So how all these summary, tags etc are saved??

2014-01-30T12:25:48 <ingu_pc> ThomasWaldmann: hi! I am new to moinmoin project but not to foss. What do you mean by "all expensive stuff done on non-existing pages is a bit problematic"?
2014-01-30T12:26:00 <ingu_pc> ThomasWaldmann: I am talking about 1.9

2014-01-30T12:59:23 <ThomasWaldmann> just don't do other summer job AND gsoc, that often fails badly
2014-01-30T13:00:07 <ThomasWaldmann> ingu_pc: 1.9 is often operated without xapian, no search index then.

2014-01-30T13:00:36 <ingu_pc> ThomasWaldmann: OK. how do I go about the idea I explained yesterday?is it possible>
2014-01-30T13:00:39 <ThomasWaldmann> so, a backlinks search has to open and read through all pages in the wiki, which is a very expensive operation for big wikis
2014-01-30T13:00:48 <ingu_pc> Oh
2014-01-30T13:01:14 <ThomasWaldmann> and you have a infinite number of non-existing pages, so that can really bite...
2014-01-30T13:01:58 <ingu_pc> ThomasWaldmann: true, I was also looking at http://moinmo.in/FeatureRequests/BrokenLinkManagement
2014-01-30T13:02:36 <ThomasWaldmann> after noticing the exactly same problem with the already existing "similar pages" list when you visit a non-existing page, I even thought about removing that. but at least that is a title search and somehow useful, so I did not.
2014-01-30T13:04:31 <ThomasWaldmann> missing attachments sounds like doable. but otoh: moin 1.9 is stable, so no big new features there. and in moin2, we don't have attachments any more, they are just normal items, so you automatically have that.
2014-01-30T13:04:45 <ThomasWaldmann> (idea from that page)
2014-01-30T13:05:06 <ingu_pc> ThomasWaldmann: I see.
2014-01-30T13:05:26 <ThomasWaldmann> missing web links / missing file: links - a bit outside of moin's scope. and file: links have many issues anyway.

2014-01-30T16:48:45 <RogerHaase> skathpalia: I looked at #308 over a year ago and gave up. iirc, I tested with major browsers and thunderbird but could not find an instance where the obsolete attributes had an effect. But I do not use atom feeds much so I was not sure I was testing the right things. There may be different opinions, but I think the task is to prove they have no effect and just remove them.
2014-01-30T16:50:56 <skathpalia> yeah it seems to me also that it won't affect removing the attributes.
2014-01-30T16:52:30 <skathpalia> all the attributes are specified in the style tag except the one in class moin-diff-header in which the width is specified to be 50%
2014-01-30T16:53:05 <skathpalia> So I just added that attribute in the style tag
2014-01-30T16:56:38 <RogerHaase> maybe set cellpadding, etc to 1000, test a bunch of readers. I don't remember, I think style tags were mostly ignored as well so far as padding goes.
2014-01-30T17:00:57 *** Jigar54
2014-01-30T17:02:40 <skathpalia> But some width is also specified in the moin-diff-header class which needs to be specified in the style tag so as to as write it only once and not repeat in the same file
