Hi Thomas,
I am interested in working with MoinMoin Wiki at Python 3.x porting project in Google Summer of Code this year could you please tell me the current status of the Project. There is a line written Below the Project Header "Just an idea. Needs evaluation whether it should be done now or rather later". If the Project will definitely come then I should make a proposal regarding the Idea, Please let me know this.

Answer:
we didn't do much further work or evaluation yet on that, but there is some info on the Python3 page about our dependencies
- I heard that some work is being done for werkzeug/flask right now (but I don't know details about how far they got yet)
- We (moin devs) can't help much with python3 porting experience and thus that experience would be required from the person doing that port
- that expertise should be visible from your application, by giving a specific, detailled project plan with infos about:
- what needs to be done + time planning
some dependencies might need py3 porting also
- how to make sure code works on both 2.x and 3.x?
- how to minimize effort to maintain 2.x and 3.x in parallel?
BTW, if you like you can have an acl protected subpage at /GSOC-2013-Application to make a draft. -- ThomasWaldmann 2013-04-28 00:04:06
