It seems to me there will be some problems (if not they already are present) with keeping MoinMoin documentation updated and translated.
Situation: Developers keep modifying pages on MoinMoin so even if a Translator has just finished translating a page, he may end up noticing there is still pending work. However, that is not the 'most' important problem.
Users who happily choose to use Moin pages already translated may end up realizing these pages are not as completed or updated as the ones in English, therefore users will not be able to rely on translations. Then, if they can't rely on translated pages why would translator bother translating?
Solution: If Developers work along with Translators (or why not a MoinDocumentationTeam?) as one 'team', maybe we can set "freeze dates" so that Translators get the chance to read, analize, propose better documentation, etc., before starting their work. Once both teams agree that there will be no more modifications until next release, then Translators will start translating and by the time they finish, users getting new release will be able to rely on exactly the same info English pages contain.

Its not possible to freeze the docs currently, as they are outdated and incomplete. When we have decent docs, we can freeze them between releases. -- NirSoffer 2004-12-22 06:50:03
- I see your point but then, how would you suggest we can set the same base for documents. Personally, I really don't mind if documents are outdated or not, as long as we can assure that ALL languages (or at least spanish if others do not complain) have the same english source to translate. As an example, nowadays, you can pick an 'Xyz page' in "A" language and the same 'Xyz page' in "B" language and unbelievably, the are very different on content. Why? Because there ARE NO standards for documenting processes. Once we have all documents standarized in terms of contents, we can easily start deleting or updating info, but if we keep documenting without serious control, we will only create a bigger ball of dirty mud.
IMHO, I think that is not acceptable, neither from the User's pint of view who chooses to use Moin in a certain language, nor from the people who really want documents to be kept as professionally as possible. -- MauricioHernandez 2004-12-22 19:32:54
IMHO this is completly non-sense

- Big updates which lead to unsynchronous pages are not a problem either.
- Translators who started translating a single page and are nearly finished fetch an old rev and finish translating the page.
- Pages that have not been translated yet will be translated in their newest version.
- Minor updates are merged if they are just minor.
