Description

If you number a nested list a. b. c. d., then the nested list is broken. However if you number it a. a. a. a., then it works.

Steps to reproduce

  1. See the example.

Example

If you do this, you have problems:

 1. list item.
   a. foo
   b. bar.
   c. baz.
   d. wooga.
  1. list item.
    1. foo b. bar. c. baz. d. wooga.

If you do this, you get the desired result:

 1. list item.
   a. foo
   a. bar.
   a. baz.
   a. wooga.
  1. list item.
    1. foo
    2. bar.
    3. baz.
    4. wooga.

Workaround

Number nested lists a. a. a. a....

Discussion

This is not a bug but the documented behavior, see HelpOnLists.

Actually, the form

 1. item
 2. item

Is undocumented - you should not expect it to work with a, b, c...
