After disabling an account forever, it is not possible to use this account's email address to create a new account. At the same time, it's not possible anymore to "mail me my account data".

Steps to reproduce

1. Disable an account forever.
2. Try to register a new account with the same email address as the old one.
3. Try "mail me my account data" with the old email address.

• Use another e-mail address for the new account.
• Do not disable your account if you plan to sign in again.

Discussion

I am not sure if this is a malfunction. Please state why you think so. Mailing credentials is disabled of course for security reasons. And the e-mail is blocked because the owner deliberately disabled his account.

I'm also not sure if it's a bug. But I'd say so. 3 Scenarios:

• The MoinMoin user registratiton process doesn't require the user to confirm email adresses. Let's say I want myenemy@gmail.com not to get an account in some Wiki. So I just create an account with this email address and disable it immidiately. Like that, this guy can not use his email address inside that wiki anymore. If I don't disable his account, he could still do "Mail me my account data".

  • Yeah, but how should we solve this without losing the requirement of unique e-mail addresses (which I do not understand, though)? Delete the e-mail address in the account data? That might even conform better to the laws (esp. German ones). Anyone against this?
• Someone disables the account accidently.
  • The admin has to solve it in that case IMHO.

• Someone disables the account in order to get a new (e.g. CamelCase conform) nickname.

  • I admit that it's not very intuitive, but you can rename your user name.
    • How could this be done?

      • Login, you are seeing UserPreferences. Spot your username in that form. Modify it. Click Save. You are done
