Poll about TWikiDraw usage

MoinMoin currently has TWikiDraw as a simple Java applet based drawing program (used by drawing:foo).

There were suggestions to replace that by something else, something incompatible else.

There is also some problem with the refactored storage code supporting it. Problem has been solved in 1.9.

So the question for moin development is mainly about how many people are using TWikiDraw and depend on it.

Note: this is not about moin's ability to show some graphics (like PNG or JPEG files), but about the possibility to edit TWikiDraw drawings (*.draw) using a Java applet (if you don't have Java installed, you can not use it) that outputs a foo.draw and foo.png when saving. Moin will then show the PNG in the browser.

So please tell us:

Do you need TWikiDraw?

• 0 means "We don't need it at all, we never used it, we don't care."
• 1..8 (please interpolate yourself, the higher number you choose, the more you depend on it)
• 9 means "Lots of our users made drawings with TWikiDraw and we heavily depend on being able to edit them. We can't live without it."

Markku Tavasti: "I and my customers need some similar tool,..." - how is that related to availability of twikidraw in moin?

• Answer from Markku Tavasti: I mean we need TwikiDraw or same functionality with new, incompatible moin plugin that works over https also.

SamMorris: Note that the debian package breaks twikidraw anyway. 275914

LlubNek: Could use some simple SVG and javascript instead (or VML for IE I guess...)
