When I was starting working with wikis, I wrote my own wiki in PHP. I was using it in our intranet as a knowledge base. Wiki pages could be structured hierarchically by having a kind of folder structure. When the wiki became larger, it was necessary to do a redesign of some components to improve the performance. In order to avoid large programming effort, I started searching for an alternative using an already evolved wiki. I chose to use MoinMoin as I liked it's simple way of categorization and possibility to write plug-ins.
I started to develop the Explorer theme that was pretty much like the visualization we had in our wiki before. It helps getting most out of MoinMoin’s categorization and sub page structure. Most of all I miss in Moin the possibility of having forms and reports based on databases. So I started to write some own macros like MacroMarket/DataBase and MacroMarket/Form. As I have only limited time for working on Moin development, currently I can’t continue developing those macros.
