This page is intended to be some kind of board where people interested in helping on the development of Moin, can place their comments. If you plan to contribute in the translation read first EditingOnMoinMaster before going further, and read this page too
Also, from this page we can easily find some other links to pages of info regarding the translation of English Moin versions into Spanish.
Translation into Spanish has to be done in such way that people from Paraguay, Colombia, Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Mexico, España, Ecuador, etc., can easily understand the words used. I know it may be difficult but we have to give it a try. If that is not possible, then we will have to make localized files like:
- es-cl.po
- es-ar.po
- etc.
There is an style discussion about (tu y usted) : /TutearOno
I imagine that perhaps the country that will really prefer to have a localized xx.po file is Spain, as people usally tend to use many words translated or very different to what Latin American countries use (i.e. fichero, pulsación, etc.)
Currently (upto the day of this writing) the es.po IgorTamara submitted is based on the original by MauricioHernandez, and have the following words untranslated:
- parser
So far, there are no guidelines on how or what to do in order to help on the translation process, but you are always welcome to contribute with ideas, time, documents, etc. So, if you want to help, just contact MauricioHernandez either via mail or at #moin (IRC) mhz.
¡Saludos a todos y gracias por leer esta página!

I have created this following page ( /SpanishEquivalents ) to keep track of and also suggest some parameters for certain words/sentences. Basically, the idea is that people who are interested in the translation of Moin can use those equivalents or suggest new ones. Nevertheless, I have to say that as long as nobody else contributes with real discussion about /SpanishEquivalents , I will have to use my own ideas so that MoinMoin spanish development doesn't get stuck. I hope you all understand it -- MauricioHernandez 2004-11-29 03:51:20
