Using SVG smileys/icons instead of PNG
The current set of smileys is not very nice, also, even though they are PNG files, there are pixel lines instead of smooth lines (note: unclear what you are trying to tell. PNG is pixel graphics, so having "pixel lines" is expected, -- ThomasWaldmann 2009-11-12 02:31:35 ).
I took the liberty of creating SVG smileys for a size of 15x15 pixels and exporting PNG versions. Where can I upload/send a ZIP archive of these (~90 kb).
You can upload them here and maybe want to use some {{attachment:example smiley.png}} to show them inside this page.
There are 0 attachment(s) stored for this page.
These icons are from Tango icon set. If you wish, you can find svg variants in tango iconset package. -- EugeneSyromyatnikov 2009-11-11 00:09:18
Discussion
I think we can add svg icons and smileys in 2.0 if
- svgweb can render those with flash (for IE)
- the IE users do install the chrome frame plugin
- the IE users drops that browser and uses some different with svg support
Also, to proof that svgweb is capable of sanely supporting this, please make some proof-of-concept page and try it with IE6. Maybe something similar to HelpOnSmileys, just to see what happens if there are many small svg icons on a page. Speed, quality of rendering, reliability has to be seen. -- ThomasWaldmann 2009-11-12 02:31:35
