The following projects are part of Google Summer of Code 2010. The goal is to add support for different conversions between the DOM Tree and different format, especially HTML and DocBook.

For more details you can read the proposal for this task. You can also follow this diary for regular news about the development.

DOM ⇐ HTML

Goal

Have a working converter from HTML to the DOM Tree.

With this converter, people would be able to directly import HTML page in a wiki page, or even directly use HTML to edit page (which could allow people to use HTML WYSIWYG editor like TinyMCE, WYMEditor ...).

The goal is to have a clean and working converter within June 19th.

See the associate page : HTML-DOM for more details about this project.

DocBook ⇔ DOM

Goal

Have a working circular converter from Docbook to the DOM Tree and from DOM Tree to DocBook.

With these converters, people would be able to use MoinMoin as a powerful editor for any DocBook document. They could import document into the wiki, and then export it again to print it, to publish it on the web, to create nice PDF and so... They can also use MoinMoin to write complicate document, and then export it into DocBook to have PDF ready-to-print and so ...

The goal is to have a clean and working converter within July 28th.

See the associate page : DocBook Converter for more details about this project.
