This page describes themes and skins for revisions of MoinMoin 1.2.4 and earlier. Themes were introduced in Moin 1.2 - Moin 1.1 had some primitive support for recoloring, but many things were coded in the python. ThemeMarket shows you themes for Moin 1.3 or newer.

(FAQ) No Theme?

I seem unable to change themes. I only get a page without columns or other than browser default colors no matter which thems I use. This includes the included ones as well as downloaded ones.

• Check your url_prefix path in the file wikiconfig.py (Check the image file location in the front page and see if the location is correct) . It should be the full URL to the directory from which MoinMoin's htdocs are served. And check if you can fetch the .css files or images manually through your browser.

• Also check to make sure that the THEME.py file is in your data/plugin/theme folder. Took me a while of not reading the instructions to find that one.

Migrating 1.2 themes to 1.3

This is not easy - 1.2 theme code was the first version of the theme package, and was heavily changed in 1.3, and it is much more complete now.

The best way is to rewrite your theme using new 1.3 code. This should be much easier to create new theme now, usually only CSS changes will be enough. If you need more then CSS changes, look in included themes modules, and check theme.init.py to see what methods you can use or override in your theme.

Fixing pre 1.3.3 themes

On 1.3.3, the stylesheets variables changed. In the new code, you don't need them on new themes, so its little easier to create new themes. To make pre-1.3.3 theme work on 1.3.3, just remove those variables. To make it clear, here is a typical patch: 1.3.3.patch .
