Moniker: Comments

I'm interested in any feedback: please let me know if you use this theme, what you think, any missing features or bugs, etc. You can also leave feedback on my page, or email me directly, if you prefer (email listed on my page): RickVanderveer
Dear Rick, this is indeed a wonderful theme! It is - as you have already mentioned - attractive, clean and uncluttered. I like it very much. Very well done! Here some thoughts I had when I was looking at the theme:
You said that now unfortunately the current page link and its pages-linking-to-this-page-search-functionality is missing. On ActionMarket, there is a backlink-action available for that as a way of compensating for that. With this action you can easily add to the actions menue an item "Pages linking to this page". On action market, there is also a create-new-page-action.
- Concerning the bread-crumbs-navigation: I wouldn't abandon it for several reasons. Especially if you have subpages (and sub-sub-pages) and special characters in the wiki-page-name, it is a hard job to guess from the browser's URL the real wiki-page-name. And you still need the real wiki-page-names to link to wiki-pages.
For some ideas on an improved bread-crumbs-navigation, see http://graphics.tudelft.nl and ThemeMarket/SimpleMente.

- Oliver, thanks for the feedback!
I've already updated the theme page to include a link to the LinksToThisPage macro, which perfectly fills in for that missing functionality. Thanks for that tip!
As explained on the theme page, the bread crumb page trail isn't at all important to us. But, I can see that others may not share my point of view.
I'll look at these options, and next round of updates will try to incorporate something (although, I'll probably leave it commented out with instructions on how to activate it. But at least it will be there for those who want it).
Hi, Rick. This theme is really cool! I have started using it with moin1.9 and I like it very much. Page trail and page location are also helpful for us. The only problem with page location is that it overlaps with the tip box in the Recent Changes page. It would be nice if the box is shifted a few pixels downward. Thanks. -- TakeoKatsuki 2010-02-13 06:40:53
Hi, Rick. Under my environment, if I put a table in the Moniker theme, the table width becomes 100% of the page width regardless of the length of the texts in the table. -- TakeoKatsuki 2010-03-02 08:08:29
Hello, I think you forgot to include the module caching, because is required on the line 558 version 19-2.1.1 --JoelRivera
Hi! thanks a lot for the theme, I used it untouched -- LaurentPerrinet 2010-03-30 11:25:24
With Moin 1.9.3 I get warnings when using the Moniker19 theme: "request.getScriptname() is deprecated, please use the request's script_root property." -- 91.23.116.162 2010-10-25 17:45:15
Rick,
I love the theme. It is great for our organization's internal wiki (and the colors are a pretty close match too ). One addition I made, since we use comments quite extensively, is to add some styling to the class comment. I added the following to screen.css under Special Classes since I figured we only need that formatting on screen, but it could be moved to common.css if it is needed in print as well. Maybe it is.
This helps make the comments really standout for review questions and you might consider adding this little tweak to your next revision. Thanks.

This is a really really really nice theme. We'll probably use it with minimal modifications for our own research group website.
